The Unlikely Four

As much as Detective Lelo Vega would rather handle an investigation himself, he couldn't deny that he needed a team or else justice would never be served. He assembled a special unit to help complete this job, and he couldn't have found a bigger group of misfits than the group that he assembled. They were on a boat to Milwaukee, and had just arrived. Lelo led everyone out of the boat and headed to see the mayor of Milwaukee, the one who reached out to Lelo to solve this case.

They were all on foot, and the cloudless sky was uniform in paleness. It was a sight to see. A priest, a sailor, and a large brute and a shady cop together in a team effort, but regardless of how everyone looked out of place, Lelo cared about justice, and he would do whatever he must in order to fulfill the Mayor’s wishes. Minutes passed as the team continued towards where the mayor was, but it felt like hours. The cracked streets and abandoned buildings that inhabited the city would make anyone fall into a slow melancholy trance. Klaus, one of the men that Lelo hired, was the muscle of the group, and he kept an eye on the the environment and it’s surroundings, anything could happen in a dodgy place like Milwaukee. Brother Patrick and Marcus were the other two recruits of Lelo’s. Patrick was a priest and almost contradicted Klaus’ brutish nature, and Marcus was a man of few words, although he had been a marvelous help in repairing the boat the four were in earlier.

They were getting closer, and they started to approach a building that looked of great importance. The architecture itself looked the place was of high value. No question that this was where the mayor was supposed to be. As Lelo led the team on their way, they were stopped by two guards who questioned them almost immediately.

“And just where do you all think you're going?!?” shouted one of them.

“I’m here -- We're here to see the mayor.” said a quite unaffected Lelo Vega.

“The mayor? The mayor isn’t just anybody kid, do you have business with him?”

Lelo dug into the inside of his jacket and nonchalantly pulled out a badge. “I’m detective Lelo Vega, and this is my special unit. We are here to discuss important matters with the mayor about an investigation.”

The two guards were sold. They've heard of the name Lelo Vega, the greatest detective in Milwaukee, but they actually seen the face of the man himself, and it was no denying the badge that Lelo held with the same emphasis as you would a piece of paper. They knew he was the real deal... But now they had their eyes on the other three. Lelo didn't say much because he was annoyed at having to prove validation for his team, but after a few seconds, Marcus and Klaus managed to freak out the two guards in succession to point where they didn't even care about further identification. Brother Patrick was also admitted simply because they didn't want to know what was going to come next from him. The guards opened the doors, and Lelo entered with the other 3 in his wake.

Lelo continued up the stairs with everyone else as careful as possible as the guards from before told everyone to avoid from making as much noise as possible as the mayor is very paranoid man. The carpet that covered the staircases was of a spotless blood red, and it smelled as if no one had ever stepped a foot on it. There were numerous paintings and portraits on the walls too, Lelo noticed as he and the rest advanced to the next staircase that each series of framed piece depicted Milwaukee from it’s early beginnings to the apocalypse, to the present day. As they continued onward, Lelo heard a loud crash that could wake the dead. Klaus had knocked over a light fixture that broke to pieces.

A look of disappointment was painted over Lelo’s face, as well as Father Patrick and Marcus’s as they looked at both Klaus and the many shards of glass strewn all over the once spotless carpet. Lelo reasoned though, a large and dangerous man like Klaus didn't not look like he had much experience in a fragile setting such as the mayor’s building. suddenly an old and shaky voice spoke, “What the deuce?!?” Lelo watched Klaus apologize to a small and elderly man in a tattered gray robe in what looked like the textbook example of a David and Goliath size comparison. Klaus’ apology didn't work, and the old man was now suspicious of Lelo, Marcus, and Brother Patrick in addition to Klaus, who was getting a little frustrated that he could not solve this problem with his fists. Father Patrick who was much more gentle than perhaps everyone else in the bunch, tried his hand at consoling the startled old man. No success. Lelo moved forward and said, “Hello, I’m detective Lelo Vega and this is a special unit of mine. We’re here to see the mayor about an important case.” The old man seemed to be at ease by hearing this, as he also looked at Lelo’s stylish apparel. Lelo showed him his badge and the old man was sold almost in the same fashion as the guards from outside. The old man continued about his business and went on his way. Finally the four continued to the mayor as Lelo hoped that they didn't waste too much time with that last distraction.

Lelo reached a door. Somehow this door felt like it belonged to their destination. Behind it, Lelo Vega and the others were almost certain that they would find Charles P. Twarld, the mayor of Milwaukee behind the door that stood in front of them. Lelo knocked on the door... There was a pause, and then a rustle of the knob. Suddenly the door flew open and revealed a twitchy, paranoid man who looked like he was approaching his mid 60’s. He stammered for a bit, then finally calmed down. “Hello Mayor Twarld, I'm Detective Lelo Vega, we spoke earlier about an investigation that you want me to solve.” The mayor was relieved, as if he had learned that someone put an end to all his worries. “Nice to see you Lelo, but who?? Who are th--they??” Lelo, who was now annoyed at this constant questioning of his team, said “I needed extra help with this case. I hired these men to help me out.” The conversation amongst the mayor and the investigation team continued and the mayor became shocked when he heard that they ran into a old man on the way to the mayor’s office. The three were surprised at the mayor’s reaction as they initially believed that old man would not hurt a fly. The mayor face flooded with fear as he told Lelo and the others that the old man may not have been recognizable at first glance, but it’s someone that they all know. Unable to get any further answers from the mayor, the topic was squashed in favor of the mayor’s motivation behind Lelo’s case. To everyone’s chagrin, the mayor responded with a request to go somewhere else as he could not stay in the building. Brother Patrick, who put an end to the commotion, invited the mayor to Suzy’s Fish Shack, a restaurant, so they could discuss matters there. The mayor seemed reluctant at first, but then he agreed -- under the condition that he'd bring one of his guards with him.
